* Part of this week's Special Offer

Directions:

  1. First, take your mat board and cut into three pieces:
One into 3"x3" and the others into 1/2" by 3" and 2 1/4" by 3
  2. Cover the 3x3 board with your decorative paper of choice.
Measure out the paper at least a couple inches more than the size of your boards (example: 5x5 for your 3x3 board). You will want to mitre the corners before you fold in the edges and glue into place. Take some complimenting decorative paper (bond weight) and cut 1/4" smaller in all sides and glue down to the inside of your board (so it looks nice on the inside of your book when you open it up!).
  3. Take the other two pieces and place them on the paper together, with a 1/4 inch gap between them-this will be the cover. Glue them down.
  4. Then take a piece of bond paper (2x2 in size) and glue it into the gap, pressing with a bone folder) for added strength. Now complete covering your board and add the decorative paper to the inside cover board as above.
  5. Cut the bond paper into 3"x3"-approx 25 or more pieces.
  6. Take the cover boards and measure 1/2" down from the top and 1/2" up from the bottom. Position the stick into place and punch two holes-one on each side of the stick. Use your awl (or the Japanese Screw Punch if you have one ).
  7. Neatly stack the bond paper that you have cut for the pages and clip with the Binder
    clip.
  8. Using the cover board as a guide, punch your holes in the bond paper.
  9. Stack your papers between your cover boards so the holes line up.
  10. Thread your needle with the linen thread. Now we are ready to start sewing!
Starting from the bottom left, sew from the back (left hole) to the front, over the stick and into the other hole to the back, then go up to the top right hole and up over the stick and around to the back, then repeat the step. Tie into a knot at the back.
  11. Embellish your book however way you like using your stamps and embellishments! This example uses the mini scrabble tiles and fun fibers.
